Hobart Women’s Shelter (HWS) is very pleased to be working with the Department of Communities to provide an additional 17 accommodation units to women and children affected by family violence and/or homelessness in Hobart. This has been agreed to in principle.
Therefore we are seeking expression of interests for Family/Tenancy Support Workers, Administration and Cleaning.
This initiative utilises some existing houses located in suburban Hobart and will also include the provision of 10 new, prefabricated units that will sit alongside our existing facilities.
The HWS is encouraged by this significant commitment from the government that will enable us to deliver accommodation services and support to more women and children in need, including assistance with access to more permanent accommodation and in addressing other social, financial, legal and health issues that may be impacting on their lives.
We look forward to our ongoing work with the Department of Communities to implement this very important initiative by the government to significantly increase the number of women and children who can be accommodated in a safe and secure environment within our local community.
